La Fortezza Medicea di San Martino is located in San Piero a Sieve. The building has a polygonal form, consisting of embankments and seven bulwarks. Inside stands a chapel and the keep. The fortress was built on the part of Cosimo I June 30, 1569, designed by Baldassarre Bolt, which ended after by Simone Genga and Bernardo Buontalenti. The elevated structure on a hill falls on Sieve was used to defend Florence, able to resist the sieges, using tanks, warehouses for food and weapons, casemates, kitchens windmills, armerie and furnaces to melt guns .
